What this is about
Star Citizen has many keys. For the start you need a handful of them. Here are the functions with their in-game names – not the keys, because you can change those yourself.q1
Finding your own bindings
The game menu has the key bindings. There you search for the name of a function and see which key it is for you. The other way round, you can assign your own key there.
Moving
- Walk – slower and quieter than running.
- Crouch and prone – important as soon as someone shoots at you.
- The default movement speed can be increased and decreased.q1
Everything else about movement in combat is in FPS – basics later.
Interacting
The most important beginner button is the interaction mode: it shows a cursor you use to operate buttons, doors, lifts and terminals.q1
Two more menus go with it – plus your mobiGlas, the wrist computer:
- The personal menu – actions about yourself, for example distress calls or gestures.q2
- The inventory – where your belongings are. Equipping and dropping works by dragging.q2
Talking
The game has voice comms and a chat window.q1 For the start it is enough to know that both exist.
