What this is about
Quantum travel is the jump across long distances. Without it you fly for hours. With it the same distance takes minutes.
The sequence
- Set a destination – on the map. A waypoint then appears on your visor.q1
- Spool the drive – the quantum drive has to spin up fully before it can jump.q1 There is a dedicated function for it.q2
- Align – turn the ship onto the marker until it is calibrated.q1
- Jump – the trigger function is held, not tapped.q2
- Arrive – the ship decelerates automatically.
What you should know
- After the jump the drive needs a cooldown; how long depends on the distance according to the game text.q1
- Spooling draws power from other systems, above all weapons and shields.q1
- If the destination is obstructed, the game says no jump is possible – then travel somewhere else first and continue from there.q1
- A jump can be cancelled on the way, but only before the deceleration phase.q1
- In a group one player can initiate the jump for everyone if the others are aligned and spooled.q1
