What this is about
The “mining head” is the mining laser on the ship. The tables show all freely selectable size 1 and 2 mining lasers from the Chronist.q1 They are sorted alphabetically, not by strength – and they are not a ranking.
Size 1
Alphabetical by name, not by strength. Values without units – the records give none.
| Name | Manufacturer | Mining power | Range opt. | Range max. | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arbor-MH1-Bergbaulaser | Musashi Industrial & Starflight Concern | 2,340 | 60 | 180 | 1 |
| Helix-I-Bergbaulaser | Thermyte Concern | 3,900 | 15 | 45 | 1 |
| Hofstede-GR1-Bergbaulaser | Shubin Interstellar | 2,600 | 45 | 135 | 1 |
| Impakt-I-Bergbaulaser | Thermyte Concern | 2,775 | 45 | 135 | 1 |
| Klein-GR1-Bergbaulaser | Shubin Interstellar | 3,120 | 45 | 135 | 1 |
| Lancet-MH1-Bergbaulaser | Greycat Industrial | 3,120 | 30 | 90 | 1 |
Numbers are game values; where the data names no unit, neither do we.
Size 2
| Name | Manufacturer | Mining power | Range opt. | Range max. | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arbor-MH2-Bergbaulaser | Musashi Industrial & Starflight Concern | 2,900 | 90 | 270 | 2 |
| Helix-II-Bergbaulaser | Thermyte Concern | 4,930 | 30 | 90 | 2 |
| Hofstede-GR2-Bergbaulaser | Shubin Interstellar | 4,060 | 60 | 180 | 2 |
| Klein-GR2-Bergbaulaser | Shubin Interstellar | 4,350 | 60 | 180 | 2 |
| Lancet-MH2-Bergbaulaser | Greycat Industrial | 4,350 | 45 | 135 | 2 |
Numbers are game values; where the data names no unit, neither do we.
According to the slot data the Prospector carries one size 1 laser, the MOLE three size 2 lasers.q3
What the columns mean
Name and manufacturer
From the game's language file and manufacturer entry.q1
Mining power
The Chronist reads it from the laser's beam block: the damage value per second the beam deals according to the record.q2 The record gives no unit.
Range opt. and range max.
Two data fields of the beam: “fullDamageRange” (opt.) and “zeroDamageRange” (max.).q2 By their names the beam works fully up to the first limit and not at all beyond the second.
Power
The power units the laser takes up according to the record.q2 In our data size 1 lasers take one unit, size 2 lasers two.q1
What the data does not say
Mass and durability are the same for all mining lasers in our data – so they are not in the table.q1 Not in our data:
- influence on the rock's resistance or instability,
- module slots on the laser,
- an optimal power window.
Which modules exist: Mining modules & consumables. The controls: Mining – from scan to cargo.q4
