Editorial in-game review

Nobody from the editorial team has flown it in game yet. The information comes from the sources listed below.

What you will learn

  • Know what a medical bed is for and which tier treats what.
  • Find locations with a hospital or clinic in the Chronist.

Prerequisites

What this is about

A medical bed is the only place where an injury is treated fully.q2 Beds stand in hospitals, in clinics and in ships. This guide shows what the game data says about the bed classesq1 and what the procedure looks like according to the game text.q2

Bed classes

The game data knows three bed classes with internal names: Hospital, Clinic and Ambulance.q1 According to the data each class resets the same values – among them blood drug level, overdose, stun, hunger, thirst and body radiation.

Bed classes from the game data q1From the game data · 4.10.0-hotfix (55227)

Internal labels. “Resets” lists the values the bed class restores according to the data.

NameResets (internal)
HospitalBloodDrugLevel, OverdoseLevel, Stun, Hunger, Thirst, BodyRadiation
ClinicBloodDrugLevel, OverdoseLevel, Stun, Hunger, Thirst, BodyRadiation
AmbulanceBloodDrugLevel, OverdoseLevel, Stun, Hunger, Thirst, BodyRadiation
How the internal bed classes relate to treatment tiers 1 to 3 is not unambiguous in our data: ship templates with “T1” in the file name do not consistently carry the same bed class. So we do not map them here.

Treatment tiers

The tier decides what a bed can treat. The game’s hint text names the required tier for each injury severity:q2

NameInjury (game text)Bed resource (µSCU)
Tier 1Severe Injury Detected20
Tier 2Moderate Injury Detected10
Tier 3Minor Injury Detected5

Numbers are game values; where the data names no unit, neither do we.

At the bed a menu guides you, according to the game text: patient care with the tabs “treatment” and “medication”, plus the tier display.q2 If the tier is not enough, the bed states that a facility with a higher tier is needed – medication is then recommended while in transit.

Facilities

In a hospital you first check in at a lobby terminal and are assigned a room; signs lead you there, sometimes via an elevator.q2 For incapacitated patients the game texts describe a separate emergency drop off where patients are handed over.q2

Orison General
Brentworth Care Center
Green Imperial Medical

That is an extract from the Chronist – the full list of clinics is longer.q3

Regeneration

A bed can also be your regeneration location. The default is your primary residence according to the game text; terminals at medical beds or in insurance offices let you pick another one.q2 If the chosen location is unavailable or you are outside its range, you regenerate somewhere else.q2

These rules depend on the patch. What is written here applies to 4.10.0; older descriptions on the net are often out of date. Before an operation, check at the terminal yourself.

Checklist

  • You know that in a hospital you first use a check-in terminal.
  • You know which treatment tier your injury needs.
  • You know that ships also carry beds with tiers.
