What this is about
The cargo grid decides how much you can take along – and which container size fits on it at all. Both are in the game data, in metres.q1
Cargo grids compared
Interior dimensions in metres. Some ships have several grids – one per ship is listed here.

Numbers are game values; where the data names no unit, neither do we.
For every grid the data holds a smallest and a largest permitted item. Where it says 1.25 m, only the small containers fit; 2.5 m also admits the large ones.q1
Outside or inside
The data distinguishes grids that sit on the outside of the ship from those inside.q1 In practice: external stowage is quicker to reach but unprotected.
Order on the grid
BALDUURSGATE RECOMMENDATION. Not a game mechanic, just experience:
- Sort by destination: what has to come out first goes in last.
- Place heavy and large containers first, small ones fill the gaps.
- Keep a path to the exit clear when the grid is inside.
