BalduursGATE Client

The small Windows program that broadcasts your Star Citizen sessions live onto the crew map, into the log and into the statistics — and now also shows you the crew status board, the contract board, voice control and Radio Balduur right in the window. Install once, enter your token, done. Updates arrive on their own.

Download BalduursGATE Windows 10/11 · approx. 3 MB · current version · built-in auto-update
Download for Linux Linux x86_64 · AppImage · approx. 7 MB · built-in auto-update · Linux guide

Ready in 3 minutes

  1. Download & install. Grab the file above and run it. The installer needs no admin rights (per-user install).
  2. Dismiss the Windows notice (once). On the very first start Windows shows a blue SmartScreen notice, “Unknown publisher”. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. This happens only this once — later updates run without a warning.
  3. Enter your token. On first start you enter the token Lars sent you by DM (it begins with omc_). The crew is fixed to “Old Mens Club” — there is nothing else to fill in. The client finds the path to Game.log by itself.
  4. Start Star Citizen. Once you are in the game the client recognises your pilot automatically and starts transmitting. Your marker appears on the live map.
No token? Ask Lars on Discord for your personal comms token. Without a token the client runs, but sends nothing.

Linux: how it works

  1. Two system packages, once. The client uses your system's display and sound. Arch/CachyOS/Manjaro: sudo pacman -S webkit2gtk-4.1 gst-plugins-base gst-plugins-good gst-plugin-pipewire · Fedora/Nobara: sudo dnf install webkit2gtk4.1 gstreamer1-plugins-base gstreamer1-plugins-good · Debian/Ubuntu/Mint: sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 gstreamer1.0-plugins-base gstreamer1.0-plugins-good
  2. Install – the easy way. One command in the terminal downloads the file, makes it runnable and puts BalduursGATE into your start menu:
    curl -fsSL https://comms.balduur.de/static/omc/balduursgate-linux.sh | bash
After that you start the client from the start menu like any other program. No more terminal.
  3. Or by hand. Download the file above, in your file manager tick right-click → Properties → Permissions → “Executable”, double-click. On first start the client adds itself to the start menu. Browsers save downloads without that tick – which is why it only worked from the terminal until now.
  4. Enter your token, start Star Citizen – just like on Windows. The client finds the Game.log through the LUG Helper settings, and on its own for Steam/Proton, Lutris and Bottles. Otherwise enter the path in the settings.
On Linux version 0.4.27 and later also runs the glass pane above the game and the keys for the board computer, the eye and comms (including Mouse4/Mouse5) – as long as Star Citizen has focus, also under Wayland. The glass pane needs a compositor; KDE, GNOME and Cinnamon have one. The only thing still missing is voice control into the game (vJoy/F13–F24). Comms, map, logbook, contracts, chat, radio and MAYDAY work just like on Windows, and updates arrive on their own.

What the client can do

🗺️ Status Board & Map

The new status board shows at a glance who is online, in which ship and where — next to it the live star map and the ship computer (our AI), which you can ask about the org, ops and the Verse without switching to a browser.

📋 Contract Board

Contracts are posted and you take what suits — three at a time. Completing one earns standing; whoever leads the month takes the trophy. The targets are not invented, they come from what the crew has demonstrably flown — and whether something counts as done is decided by comms, not by a checkbox.

🗣️ Voice Control

“Computer, landing gear” — and the gear comes down. Mainly for VR, where you cannot find the keyboard inside the headset. Runs entirely on your own machine, no cloud: a fixed word list that cannot invent anything. It reaches the game through vJoy or F13–F24, with no modification to the game.

👁️ The Scanner

At the press of a key the ship computer reads your loadout manager off the screen and checks what it sees against the leaderboards — so you can tell whether a fitted component is any good without looking up the numbers yourself.

📖 Manual

Everything to look up right in the client: setup, key bindings, what each function does. No more digging through old Discord posts.

🏆 Season

A new comms challenge every week, rotating automatically: Frequent Flyer, Collector, Explorer, Iron Pilot. Live leaderboard — you can watch yourself climb. Only counts while your client is running, so leave it on.

📻 Radio Balduur

All four channels right in the client — Radio Balduur, Mining, PvP and Lounge. Keeps playing even as you switch views.

📍 Quick Pings

Next to the MAYDAY button: rally point, escort and target marked — one click and the crew knows, without setting off a full alert.

📡 Live Comms

Reads along in your Game.log and sends jumps, locations, ships, loot and contracts to the crew in real time — now with readable names instead of cryptic codes. Map, log and statistics update themselves.

🎯 In-Game Pack

Puts numbers straight into the game: weapons, ships and components show fire rate, DPS, shield HP, QD range and the rest in their description. One switch, German or English, off by default — your call, reversible at any time.

💬 Comms Chat

Crew chat right in the client — quick arrangements without leaving the game. If someone writes to you with @name, an overlay flashes. And you can now filter the comms feed (navigation, contracts, combat, loot).

📋 Debrief

One button at the end of a session sums it up: systems visited, ships flown, loot and incidents — and it goes straight into the crew log.

⌨️ Keybind Backup

Backs up your Star Citizen controls and restores them at the press of a button — for when a patch scrambles your key bindings again.

🆘 Send MAYDAY

One button sends a distress call with your current position. Every crew member immediately gets an audible alert — and so does this website.

🔔 Receive MAYDAY & crew calls

Distress calls and announcements from the Command Center appear in the client as a banner with a tone — even while you are in the game.

🚀 Auto-Update

The client installs new versions itself after a quick prompt. You never have to download a file again.

⚙️ Autostart

If you want, the client starts automatically with Windows — one switch, set it once, never think about it again.

🔗 Quick Links

Straight from the client to the Command Center, live map, your pilot profile, statistics and this website.

Privacy: The client reads the Star Citizen Game.log and sends game events to the crew server — no keystrokes, no private files. The extra functions keybind backup and in-game pack only touch Star Citizen files when you press the button, always with a backup first and reversible at any time. They are off by default.
